END-OF-LIFE AND BEREAVEMENT
Janet shares, with professionals and families dealing with the death of a loved one, ways to embrace and find comfort in end-of-life challenges and grief.
Affirm Yourself for End-of-Life Challenges -- For Hospice and Palliative Care Professionals
Janet uplifts Hospice professionals (staff and/or volunteers) through the personal story of her late husband's year-long Hospice experience. She weaves in affirming principles and group discussion to explore the potential of a realistic, but positive attitude to help patients and families get through this most difficult life challenge, and the role professionals can, and do, play in this journey.
Reflections on the Positivity Advantage -- For Hospice and Palliative Care Professionals
The new field of positive psychology addresses how to find positive emotions and meaning in the face of the most difficult life challenges, like the impending death of a loved one. Janet shares this research and its application for professionals. The interactive session allows professionals to explore how they can apply these principles to their patient care and family interactions.
Finding Meaning From Loss -- For Professionals and Bereavement Groups
Research encourages people to find a balance of three positives to every negative. This balance can be turned upside down after having suffered the loss of a loved one. This presentation explores ways to find meaning, and thereby the positives, in the most difficult life experience, while still acknowledging the pain and suffering. Janet uses affirming statements and personal stories to punctuate her points and encourages group discussion along the way.
